New storm on Saturn fans raise the alarm

Through their regular observations Saturn, Amateur astronomers were the first to discover a new storm, allowing scientists to shine over the instruments of the Casino spacecraft. (more...)

A new moon can be the source of Saturn’s outer ring

The Casino spacecraft has found inside the G ring of Saturn moon looks like a faint point of light and mobile. Scientists believe it is a major source of the G ring and its single arch of the ring. (more...)

Explained Saturn’s mysterious G ring

A closely woven roving band of icy rocks in orbit around Saturn could be providing the raw material for one of the planet’s rings, scientists say.The finding, detailed in the Aug. 3 issue of the journal Science Could solve the mystery of what keeps the “G-ring” of Saturn and could be evidence that a Saturnian’s [...]

Scientists have discovered a new radiation belt at Saturn

Scientists using the Magnetospheric Imaging Instrument on the Cassini spacecraft has detected a new, temporary radiation belt around Saturn, located in the orbit of its moon Dione at approximately 377 000 km from the center of the planet.

Scientists have discovered an anomalous composition of the atmosphere of an extrasolar planet

The planet, located in 33 light years from Earth, and bearing
the name of GO 436b, is by far the smallest of the planets about the atmosphere
which scientists can judge more or less justified.

Cassini photographed the storm on Saturn

Scientists working with the space probe "Casino", published
the first images of lightning on Saturn. Photos with descriptions are available
at NASA. The observation results were published in the journal Geophysical
Research Letters. High-resolution photos can be viewed here.

ISS deviated from the debris of the Chinese satellite

That night, NASA ordered the crew of space shuttle Discovery,
which docked to the ISS, perform evasive action because of the approaching
fragment of the Chinese satellite, launched 10 years ago.
Recently, attention to possible damage to vehicles from space debris has
increased considerably. Recently, experts of the American space agency said that
the clash of Russian and American [...]

Shuttle Endeavour left the ISS

International Space Station (ISS). In Tuesday 20:26 Kiev time (13:26 Eastern
Daylight Time), space shuttle Endeavour undocked from the International Space
Station and began flying toward the Earth, which will last about three days,
reported at NASA.

Landing the shuttle at the launch site at Cape Canaveral in Florida is expected

A Planet Dance at Sunset

Last month we had to wait until about the middle of the evening to see Orion at his highest in the south. But in February he arrives there soon after dark.

See what rings

Why Saturn has rings and earth not? This question, which could well be thrown into treason by a child looking for the first time through a telescope, has no easy answer. Scientists are not sure of its composition or when they formed. What we

Evidence of Liquid Water and Ammoniaon Titan

Scientist have found evidence of an ocean of liquid water and ammonia on Titan. Dr. Lorenz’s used 19 passes of Cassini’s Synthetic Aperture Radar over Saturn’s largest moon and analyzed the data. The ocean is believed to be 62 miles below Titan’s atmosphere.

Why I am not a member of he NSS

The National Space Society. As far as I can tell a great little organization. Not really sure, since I have yet to meet anyone (physically) in it and I have never received any information on it. Why am I telling you this? Ken Murphydyne wrote a post the other day on Selenian Boondocks lamenting the [...]
